The Newtown Chamber of Commerce co-sponsoring — with the Newtown Woman's Club, the Newtown Rotary, and the Newtown Lions Club — Pizza & Politics on October 26 from 6 to 9 pm at the Reed Intermediate School Cafetorium.
Pizza & Politics is a public forum for Newtown's political candidates to discuss their positions on local issues. Topics for the discussion are driven by the candidates and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Guest speakers will include the candidates for the Legislative Council, the Board of Education, the first selectman, selectmen, judge of probate, and town clerk.

In other chamber news, MetLife Home Loans will host a workshop for Newtown Chamber members who will be participating in the November 10 Destination Newtown event. Titled "Building Relationships through Effective Networking," the workshop will be this Thursday, October 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at the Newtown Meeting House.
The networking talk will be led by Chip Poehnert, builder network development manger for MetLife Home Loans. He plans to teach attendees valuable techniques to help business professionals prepare for networking events.
The workshop will cover identifying the audience, setting the appropriate personal expectations, consistency, and mindset. It will also include tips on how to handle oneself at events and how to effectively follow-up.

The sixth annual Destination Newtown, the community's only business-oriented annual exposition, is set for Tuesday, November 10, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Newtown Congregational Church at 14 West Street.
Destination Newtown is an opportunity for Chamber of Commerce members to meet and network with other businesses and the Newtown community. It is open to the public at no charge.
Themed "Passion for Business: Spearheading Growth in Newtown," the event is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown and sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank.
