Lawrence Blain Mohr

US Army World War II Veteran

Lawrence Blain Mohr, 90, of Gallipolis, Ohio, died November 11, in the St Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. Born November 30, 1918, in Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., just over the bridge from Ohio, he was the son of the late Lawrence Thorne and Stella Valeda Blain Mohr.

Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Van Gilder Mohr, whom he married February 15, 1947, in Gallipolis; a daughter, Marie Difilippantonio and her husband, Gary, of Newtown; a son, Mark Mohr and his wife, Vickie, of Ohio; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr Mohr, a farmer and businessman, was retired after 35 years as US Postmaster at Gallipolis Ferry. He was a member of the Point Pleasant, W. Va. Presbyterian Church, and the Ohio Farm Bureau. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, and a member of Post #23 American Legion at Point Pleasant and Post #4464, Veterans of Foreign Wars at Gallipolis.

Graveside services were held November 14, in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio. The Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail Team conducted military graveside services.
