It was the Inland Wetland Commission that voted 4 to 3 to approve the cluster home development, even though it will negatively impact 2 wetlands and eliminate a 3rd, without requiring an alternative plan, as required by their own regulations. It is now up to the Borough Zoning Commission (not the Newtown P&Z), to approve or deny the project. If they approve it, it will then move onto the Newtown P&Z to confirm with it complies with the town's Plan of Conservation & Development.
or maybe 'Ban the Wrongthink' crusade. You'll have a lot of signatures on that petition. Far too many people in town question the policies that are clearly instituted for their own good.
There was no "book ban", just concern that underaged students had access to a few pages of pornograghic images. And why would you want to mask the kids for an alleged virus that had a 99.9% survival rate? No one is "cutting the budget", just cutting the proposed increase. C'mon Bruce
We will have to agree to disagree. The $404,500 for school building maintenance was in the BoE budget. The BoE wanted control of it. That control is now up to the Town. It was originally in the BoE budget and it was taken out. The Board of Finance does not vote on the Superintendent's budget, only the BoE's budget that the superintendent supported. There is no guarantee it will be used as the BoE chooses. It will be used as the Town chooses. Hopefully, the two will work together. With 15 years as Chair or Vice Chair of the Board of Finance I can only remember a couple times when $1,000,000+ was reduced from the BoE budget by the BoF. Whether you want to argue its $1,000,000+ or $600,000 reduction from the BoE budget, the cut was sizable, and again, not a single LC member, BoF member, not the Superintendent, the BoE Chairperson, or Don Ramsey said they could find another specific BoE item to cut.
I believe the 2 buildings will contain approximately 169 apartments many of which will be low income and add anywhere from 169-338+ cars driving and parking on that campus everyday. Sounds like a congested nightmare.
