Serve The People

To the Editor:

With regard to Tuesday's defeat of the bond for the Newtown High School renovation project, it's interesting to me that we can build a new town hall, but we can't build a better school for our kids. I think government employees are here to serve the people, not the other way around. Apparently it's more important for the government to take care of their employees than it is to take care of their constituents.

Like the bumper sticker says, "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance." And can someone explain why the members of the Board of Education were not made aware that the school project was on the Board of Selectmen meeting agenda? The magnitude of the incompetence of the leadership in our town government is astounding.
