NHS Girls’ Tennis Team Blanks Bethel

The Newtown High School girls' tennis team improved to 5-4 this spring with a 7-0 win over Bethel at home on Monday.

The Nighthawks had beaten Pomperaug and Stratford each by 6-1 scores before losing two straight (4-3 to Joel Barlow on April 23 and 6-1 to Weston on May 1). Against Bethel, in singles play, Christina Ciamarra, Katie Serock, Jenna Himmelfarb and Erin Nemeth, playing one through four, respectively, all won in two sets. The doubles tandems of Maxx Zimmer/Charlotte Manos, Kristen Tanner/Meghan Loose and Scarlott O'Sullivan/Nicole Vournasus also earned two-set wins.
