  • Newtowner Excited To Serve Her Biscotti, Etc. To Emmy Celebs

    Stephanie Schneiderman, who founded Newtown-based Biscotti Etc. just two years ago, was skeptical when she was asked to serve up her tasty treats at the 2014 Emmy Awards. But after doing a little detective work to determine the offer was legit, she quickly agreed. A recent visit by The Newtown Bee found Ms Schneiderman packing for the weekend adventure and preparing to ship several cases of her homemade biscotti out to Los Angeles. “I thought it was a scam,” she said after receiving an official-looking e-mail inviting her to be among 20 to 25 companies to supply “swag bag” items at a pre-Emmys red carpet event August 23.

  • Charter Cable Customers Getting Ready For Digital Conversion

    Charter Communications customers in Newtown will receive more than 200 high definition (HD) channels, better picture quality, and significantly faster Internet speeds as Charter completes its move to a 100 percent all-digital network throughout 2014. The all-digital upgrade for customers in the Fairfield County area is scheduled for September 9. As part of this upgrade process, customers must take action by acquiring Charter-issued digital set-top boxes for each of their televisions. More than 90 percent of Charter customers in the Fairfield County area have adopted digital devices for at least one television in their home.

  • Workshop To Explore Anatomy, Psychology Of Facebook

    The Power Network, sponsored by the Monroe and Newtown Chambers of Commerce, will host a workshop featuring Lynn Moore of Moore Marketing on Thursday, July 24, from 8 to 9:15 am, at the Collaborative Work Center. “The Anatomy and Psychology of Facebook for Business Owners” will address key tips and techniques on how business owners can use Facebook to manage privacy and other settings, when to post and where to share and how to boost posts to grow your community.

  • Chamber Promoting Networking, Open House Events

    The Newtown Chamber of Commerce continues to host free monthly networking events open to all local business professionals. The next event will be held at Sal e Pepe Contemporary Italian Bistro on Wednesday, July 9, at 8 am, when guest speaker Scott Anders presents "The Four Disciplines of Execution.” The program will include a workshop that actively improves the ability of guests to discipline their actions. On Thursday, July 10, Chamber members Don and Jane Sharpe, owners of Design Limited LLS, will host a "Cocktails at the Cabin" open house.
