To the Editor: I am writing in support of Matt Cole for state representative. I have worked directly with Matt over the past year and can attest to his commitment to the residents of Newtown and the Newtown community. He has strong leadership skills, under...
To the Editor: I want to inform you and your readers that there is an important meeting to help better understand the implications of education reform in Connecticut. The highly controversial Common Core reform agenda will be the topic of information and discussion on Sunday, October 5, at the Black Rock State Park in Watertown.
To the Editor: Please join us in the community tag/vendor sale to benefit the Ayles family, on Saturday, October 11, from 10 am-2 pm, at 31 Pecks Lane, Newtown. Kenny Ayles was a big part of our community. He volunteered his time and did so much for our town. Kenny passed away on August 21st, fighting a valiant fight for 6 years with brain cancer. Now we’d like our community to rally round the Ayleses and join us in this event to help them.
To the Editor: For the past year, Kim Fawcett has spent time in our community getting to know us. She has joined us at many community events and spent the summer going door-to-door listening to our needs and concerns. As a voter who doesn’t support a candidate without researching them first, Kim’s record speaks for itself.
To the Editor, For nearly 15 years, Mitch Bolinsky has been a force for good in Newtown. I say this not just as a constituent, but with pride because he’s also my father. Over the years, one of the strongest, most positive inspirations in my life has been my father. His integrity and sense of right and wrong are a beacon of light. He has always been there to guide me through any struggle or new chapter with his warm smile, understanding, intelligence, insight and unique sense of humor. No one can make me smile and laugh quite like dad!
To the Editor: To mention all of Tony Hwang’s accomplishments would require too many words. In Fairfield, Tony has always been a very active and dedicated state Representative who puts his constituents first. His commitment to to community is unsurpassed! His door is always open, and he makes time regardless — for events or issues, never too big or too small.
To the Editor, I am a member of the outreach team for the commission on Aging. We sent out surveys to all registered voters between the ages of 60 and 95. We had originally set a cut off date of August 30th. We have extended the cut off date so please mail them back in.
To the Editor: I’d like to invite the Newtown community to participate in the 4th Annual Passport to Sandy Hook event on Saturday, October 11th anytime from 11 am – 4 pm (rain or shine). This event creates a great opportunity for you to visit over 30 local businesses, enjoy the new streetscape, the beautiful Glen and river of Sandy Hook Village and even a chance to win $2,000 in prizes while getting a passport stamped. This is a community event for families of all sizes not to miss. There will be activities for both children and adults to enjoy such as a bouncy house, arts & craft activities, live music, dance performances, free food and refreshments, discounts and samples. It’s a fall festival in the village. Don’t forget to bring a donation for the FAITH Food Pantry as they prepare inventory for the holiday season when families need help the most.
To the Editor: Mitch Bolinsky has my vote for State Representative on November 4th. The 2014 CT General Assembly regular session ran from February to May this year. But legislating is only part of the job for Mitch. On a daily basis, Mitch continues to work with and for his constituents, solving problems and getting results.
To the Editor: In response to “Anti-Gun Violence Groups To Rally In Stamford,” published online on Monday, September 22, 2014: Why did I make arrangements for a babysitter, cook dinner during the day, and brave rush-hour traffic to hold up a sign in Stamford on last Tuesday? Well, Governor Chris Christie, of New Jersey, was back in our state to gladhand for gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley. Why does Mr Foley repeatedly choose to keep company with Gov Christie, a person who clearly does not value ordinary citizens’ quality of life (“Bridgegate” being one example)?
