Designing With Pressed Flowers

On Wednesday, April 10, the Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will host a program titled “Designing with Pressed Flowers.” The program will be at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.

The guest speaker will be Dixie Nace, who first started pressing flowers in 1994 and has been competing at Federated Garden Clubs and the Philadelphia Flowers show ever since. She is a charter member of the Japanese International Pressed Flower Art Society and has been involved in garden clubs in Pennsylvania for a number of years.

Her business is called Painting With Flowers: Dixie Artistic Designs. Since relocating to Connecticut, Ms Nace has presented many  pressed flower workshops and is now affiliated with Branford Garden Club.

“Creativity and color know no boundaries in what can be accomplished,” said Ms Nace. “Pressed flower artistry is fruitful, contains endless possibilities, is very relaxing, and can encompass all ages.”

The program and is open to the public, free of charge.  For additional information, contact Liz Arneth 203-425-5359.
