Helping NHS Students Explore Careers

To the Editor

As summer 2014 gets into full swing, the College/Career Center at Newtown High School would like to express how grateful we are to all the individuals, businesses and community organizations that make it possible for high school students to explore careers.

We acknowledge the time and effort it takes to provide quality career experiences for students and are thankful to live and work in a community that strives to make a difference in the lives of our youth.  So, we would like to express our thanks to the following individuals and organizations and wish them much success in the year ahead:

In addition we would like to thank the following town departments and schools for their “above and beyond” support of our students and programs: custodians at NHS, Economic and Community Development Office, Hawley School, Head O’ Meadow School, Highway Department, Middle Gate School, Newtown Middle School,  NPS Business Office, Parks and Rec, Sandy Hook School, Senior Center, Tax Collector’s Office, and the Town Clerk’s Office.

We would also like to acknowledge teachers at the high school that provided extraordinary career exploration and learning opportunities to our students:  Carol Skolas, Brian Neumeyer, Lori Hoagland, Kathy Davey, Melissa Zigmont, Karolyn Baumgartner, Larry Saladin, Janice Gabriel, and Erik Holst-Grubbe.   Working together, we make a difference in the lives of our youth.
