"Placing Your Heritage In Historical Perspective," Next For Genealogy Club

The April meeting of the Newtown Genealogy Club will be held in the meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, on Wednesday, April 10, beginning at 7 pm.

This month’s guest speaker is Laura G. Prescott.  She is a professional researcher, writer and speaker.

Originally from Charleston, W.V., she has lived in New England for over 35 years.  Before starting her own research business in 2005, she worked for the New England Historical Genealogical Society for 7 years.

A 1980 graduate of Dartmouth College, Ms Prescott applied her history degree to her passion for genealogy. She is past president of The Association of Professional Genealogists, and a consultant at Fold3.com, and Newspapers.org.

Her topic will be “Placing Your Heritage in Historical Perspective.” Ms Prescott will offer examples of the research tools that can be used to find events in their lifetime helped shape the lives of ancestors.

The Genealogy Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month, September through June. Refreshments are served, and meetings are free of charge.

For those who would like to the club, annual dues are $20 for a single membership and $30 for family membership.
