Portrait Photography With Unique Subjects, March 7 With Flagpole Photographers

On Thursday March 7, at 7:30 pm, Flagpole Photographers Camera Club is offering a portrait photography workshop with unique subjects. 

The workshop will be offered at Newtown United Methodist Church.

Members of the 501st Connecticut Garrison will be posing. This is an organization whose members appear in Star Wars costumes including Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, Tuscan Raiders, and Jedi Knights.

The public is invited to bring their cameras; studio set ups and lighting will be provided. Donations will be accepted for the Newtown Police Union Fund.

On Thursday, March 21, is the next photo competition at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. Members will be meeting at 7:30 pm, in the library’s lower meeting room. The Assigned Subject is “Dreamy.”

Non-members are welcome to attend, but only members can enter the competition. Light refreshments will be served.

Flagpole Photographers is a Newtown-based non-profit group that enables members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers. Members come from diverse backgrounds, with photographic skills ranging from beginning novices to professional photographers.

The club’s season runs annually, September through June. Monthly print competitions are usually held on the third Thursday of each month at the library. All dates, assigned subjects, and programs are included in the schedule on our website.

On Saturday, April 6, the club will present its annual exhibit at the library.

Dues are $30 per person or $50 for a family membership. Students may join at no charge.
