HARTFORD – Urging state legislators to act swiftly, Governor Dannel P. Malloy has proposed a set of gun control laws intended to make the state a safer place.
The governor’s proposal comes in the wake of the December 14 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in which a 20-year-old gunman shot his way into the school with a semiautomatic rifle, after which he shot and killed 20 first-graders and six educators before killing himself as police approached.
Some would say Governor Dannel P. Malloy was a man of courage for vowing not to raise taxes going into FY2014, where a $1.2 billion revenue shortfall awaits him. And it seems he is undertaking this daunting mission armed only with a fertile imagination and some well-honed semantics.
The HealingNewtown Art Space was filled with people, looking at art on display, talking between themselves, and participating in activities before Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra, and Newtown Cultural Arts Commission Chair Jennifer Johnston spoke at the space’s grand opening on Thursday, February 14.
