Storyteller Shares Baseball History With Sandy Hook School Students

International storyteller Rochel Coleman visited Sandy Hook Elementary School on Wednesday, April 3, and shared the story of “Cool Papa Bell,” otherwise known as James Thomas Bell.

To prepare the students for the story, Mr Coleman taught the assembled group to sing along with him before explaining, “We’re going to talk about baseball from about 100 years ago.”

Mr Coleman said Cool Papa Bell was the fastest man to play baseball, and was also the man who convinced Jackie Robinson to enter the major league.
