Garden Club To Host ‘Tulips & Windmills’ Program

The October meeting of The Garden Club of Newtown will feature club member Deb Osborne with a travel adventure, “Tulips and Windmills.”

Mrs Osborne’s program will be at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, on Tuesday, October 22, at 1 pm.

Two years ago Mrs Osborne took the garden club and its guests to Antarctica with a photographic presentation of her travels there. This year she will share stories from her European trip.

“Tulips and Windmills” begins with a river cruise ship, sailing through Holland and Belgium and visiting Delft, the beautiful Keukendorf Gardens, Rotterdam and Antwerp. Heading to London, she then visits the spectacular English manor gardens of Sissinghurst, Kew Gardens, Pashley Manor, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Houghton Lodge. She will offer gardening inspiration as she shares her experiences.

Well-known in Newtown for her own wonderful gardens that have twice been a part of the Newtown Historical Society House and Garden Tour, Mrs Osborne is also a talented floral designer who is currently working on her certification as a Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Flower Show Judge. A former president of The Garden Club of Newtown, she is presently vice president and is also the committee chair responsible for artistic development.

“Tulips and Windmills” will be presented in the Olga Knoepke Meeting Room, on the first floor of the library. Easiest access is from the building’s rear parking lot.

The public is welcome to attend this program. There is a guest fee of $5 for non-members.

Registration is not required but additional information is available by calling 203-512-7320.
