Eleanor Gagel Clark

Eleanor Gagel Clark, 99, of Newtown, and formerly of Milford, died February 26. She was born March 11, 1913, in New York City.

She was married for 63 years to Bruce William Clark.

She is survived by one daughter, Louise Clark Baker of Newtown; two grandchildren, Diane L. Baker of Newtown and Daniel R. Baker of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter, Rebekah Baker.

She graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield, Mass., where she was editor of the yearbook. For 35 years, Mrs Clark was assistant to the president of Edgcomb Steel of New England. She was also the treasurer of the Edgcomb Credit Union.  She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for 50 years.

Mrs Clark was a very talented artist, drawing the popular flapper girls of the era. She loved to cook and bake, and passed that on to her daughter. She will be greatly missed by her family.

A graveside service was scheduled at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street in Westport, for Friday, March 1.
