Gertrude Napolitano, 95, of Brewster, N.Y., died March 22, at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, N.Y. She was born October 19, 1917, in Orange, Mass., to Marion (George) and William Dresser.
On July 31, 1939, she married Pasquale Saverino Napolitano in Turners Falls, Mass. Mr Napolitano died January 10, 2006.
Two children, Pasquale “Patrick” Napolitano, Jr, and his wife Carol, of Newtown, and Filomena “Mena” DiLallo, and her husband Al, of Brewster; four brothers, Richard, Carl, and his wife Jo, Roger, and wife Wanda, and Donald, and wife Deanne; a sister Jane Kimbel, and husband Richard; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren survive Mrs Napolitano.
At age 50, Mrs Napolitano earned her bachelor's in accounting from NYU, and at age 55, her master's in taxation and finance from Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. She then worked as an accountant for many years, fulfilling her lifelong dream.
She enjoyed sewing and needlework, as well as travel and golf.
Friends may call at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, Monday, April 1, from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 2, at 10 am, at St Lawrence O’Toole Church, 31 Prospect Street, Brewster. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, N.Y.
