Kathleen Pritchett, 67, of Newtown, died March 25, after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She was the wife of Wayne W. Pritchett. She was born in Morristown, N.J., December 26, 1945, to Helen (Sharkey) and John O'Brien.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, she leaves behind her four grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, and Chris Eriquez, and Timothy Pritchett. Her siblings Patty Bolcar, Barbara Brown, and Gerald O’Brien, all of New Jersey, also survive her. Her parents and both of her children, Laura and Tim, predeceased Ms Pritchett.
Her life was devoted to her family and friends. After the death of their daughter, Kathy and Wayne raised their four grandsons, currently ranging in ages from 15 to 26.
Later in life, Ms Pritchett pursued a college education, something that she had put aside in her young married life. In 2005 she received a degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College. Until her illness began, she worked in the Newtown School System, caring for children in the before and after school program.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 27, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment in Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, N.J., will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the ALS Association at www.alsa.org will be appreciated.
