Still Time To Vote

At 6 pm, with just two hours before polls close, 3,421 residents had converged on Newtown Middle School to cast ballots for the 2013-14 town wide budget.

This referendum marks the first time in recent history that residents are being asked to cast separate ballots on the school district and municipal budget proposals.

Voters also have an opportunity to answer ballot questions that would help the Legislative Council in reformulating new proposals in the event that one or both parts of the first-round referendum failed.

Polls remain open until 8 pm. The Newtown Bee will announce results as soon as they are announced.
