Police Seek Two Suspects In Auto Theft

On Monday April 8, at approximately 6:58 am, Newtown police received a call from a Newtown resident explaining that his 2002 black GMC Denali full-size SUV had been stolen from the front parking lot at Newtown Mobil.

The gas station/convenience store is at 62 Church Hill Road, near the Exit 10 ramps for Interstate 84.

The theft occurred while the owner was inside the gas station making a purchase. The owner had left his vehicle running and unlocked during the time he was inside the store.

When the man exited the store, he realized that his SUV was gone, police said.

Surveillance photos taken from within the store showed two black males enter the Denali and then enter eastbound I-84 at Exit 10.

Newtown police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the two men.

The GMC has a Connecticut marker plate with the marking  383-TZC.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the matter to contact Detective Jason Frank at the police station at 203-270-4229, or call police at 203-426-5841.
