The Newtown Service Unit of the Salvation Army will be holding its annual bell ringing fundraising program on Fridays, December 6 and 13, from 4 to 8 pm, and Saturdays, December 7 and 14, from 9 am until 4 pm. Volunteers are needed to tend the familiar red kettles and “ring the bells” for Newtown residents in need of financial assistance.
Ninety percent of all funds raised will go to assisting Newtown residents in need of emergency financial assistance such as purchasing fuel oil, food and paying utility bills The distribution of all funds is made through the Newtown Social Services Department and paid directly to vendors.
For those who wish to mail a donation, checks payable to NSU Salvation Army can be delivered or mailed to Newtown Social Services , 3 Primrose Street, Newtown CT 06470. Donations are appreciated any time of year, as the needs for assistance is an ongoing process for Newtown Social Services.
Anyone interested in ringing bells in a one-hour shift during the two weekends may contact email@example.com. Kettles will be set up each Friday night at Yankee Discount Wine & Liquor, Walgreens, and Stop & Shop. Saturday’s locations are the same as Friday, with the addition of a kettle also being set up outside Dunkin’ Donuts.
