• Ernest D’Aversa

    Ernest D’Aversa, 90, died peacefully April 14, at the Harbor, the Village at East Farms, Waterbury, after a protracted illness. He was born in Waterbury, August 18, 1923, the son of Vincenzo and Vincenza (“Anna” Petraroia) D’Aversa. He was the fourth of five children, all of whom predeceased him.

    Nancy S. Slocum, 83, of Pitt County, N.C., died April 3. She was born November 12, 1930, in New Jersey, to Helen and Sam Scott. Mrs Slocum, of Russian decent, moved to Newtown as a young girl, and graduated from Newtown High School in 1949.

    Mary Shaw, 76, of Newtown died April 8 from complications due to kidney failure. She was born May 17, 1939, in Waterbury, where she was raised before moving to Newtown in 1965.

    Rose Guarino, 87, of Danbury died in Danbury Hospital, April 9. She was born in New York City, to Maria (Guiliano) and Joseph Sapienza.

  • Stanley M. Frystak

    Stanley M. Frystak, 84, of Sandy Hook died in his home April 4 after a lengthy illness. Born November 11, 1929, he was the youngest of ten children.

    Elfriede M. Liese Orr, 90, of Newtown died peacefully April 6 at home, with her family by her side. She was born May 29, 1923, in Hanau, Germany, to Anna Ruth and Hermann Liese.

    Allan H. Springmeyer, 83, of Grace Meadows in Southbury, and formerly of Newtown and Bethlehem, died April 2 after a short illness. He was born in New York City to Dorothy (Bricker) and Harold Springmeyer.

    John H. Russo, 76, of Brookfield, loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully April 4 at Westchester Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born in the Bronx, March 27, 1938, to Carmela and John L. Russo.
