Mike Mayer, 74, of Pawling, N.Y., submitted his final grades after fighting pancreatic cancer for as long as humanly possible.
His wife of 50 years, Judith Upton Mayer; daughters Kathy and husband, Brad Eggleston, of Newtown, Jennifer of Elkton, Md., Deborah and Herb Burns, Wallkill, N.Y., and Sandra and John Baresich, Waxhaw, N.C. survive Mr Mayer. Siblings Susan Kane Roberts and Hale Mayer; and scores of loved ones and countless strangers he called friends also survive him.
William Frederick Hanna, 70, of Fishkill, N.Y. and previously a resident of Sandy Hook for 45 years, died February 12. He was born in Bridgeport, February 17, 1943, to John and Frances (Menedick) Hanna.
Jeffrey J. Topolski, 59, of Trumbull died suddenly February 8 in St Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport July 28, 1954, he was a son of Barbara Burlant Topolski of Trumbull and the late John M. Topolski.
Candido Gomes, 77, of Shelton, beloved husband of Isaura Lucia Dos Santos Gomes, died February 8, at Bridgeport Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Born in Vila Do Conde, Portugal, August 20, 1936, he was a son of the late Mario Gomes and Delfina Rosa Riobom.
Barbara Yaremich Cardinal, 79, of Trumbull, died February 8, at St Vincent’s Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Cardinal. Born in Bridgeport, she was a Trumbull resident for the past 42 years.
Mary M. Cosier, 78, of Wolcott and formerly of Milford for over 50 years, beloved wife of the late Robert Cosier, died with family by her side, February 2. She was born in Bridgeport, December 15, 1935, to Daniel and Anna Morris Birch.
Margaret Barker “Peg” Donovan, 86, of Bridgeport, died at The Carolton Convalescent Hospital, Fairfield, February 4. She was the widow of John W. Donovan. Born November 16, 1927, the daughter of George H. and Alice Maguire Barker, she was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport.
Herbert J. “Buddy” Draney III, 79, of Newtown, died peacefully January 31, at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Paterson, N.J., January 22, 1935, to Ann and Herbert Draney. He lived most of his life, raising a family, in Wyckoff, N.J., before moving to Newtown in 1998.
