6.4 Newtown High School Track Teams Piling Up Wins The Newtown High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams continue to show off their speed, stamina, strength, and agility as the season unfolds. The boys’ squad improved to 11-1 following a sweep of Immaculate, Oxford, and Stratford in Tuesday’s meet. 6.4 Newtown High Golfers Boast 5-1-1 Conference Record The Newtown High School boys’ golf team reeled off five straight wins between April 21 and May 1, then fell short in a tough match against Brookfield this past Monday and played to a hard-fought tie against South-West Conference nemesis Weston on Tuesday. The Nighthawks are 5-1-1 in the South-West Conference heading into their final five matches. After consecutive wins over Notre Dame-Fairfield, Stratford and Immaculate, on April 21, 22 and 24 respectively, the Nighthawks traveled to Rock Ridge Country Club and beat Bethel as the Hawks combined to shoot a 162 to Bethel’s 178 on April 30. The Hawks returned home to the Newtown Country Club and got past New Milford (163-168) on May 1. They were beaten by Brookfield (165-169) at Sunset Hill on Monday and played to a five-card 190-190 tie with Weston at home on Tuesday. Read More... 5/8/2008 2:57:53 PM
