  • State Officials Seeking Details On Growing List Of 12/14 Charities, Funds

    Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein want more information about how much money has been collected by dozens of charities that have sprung up in the wake of the Sandy Hook School tragedy. The state officials also hope to identify the intended recipients of money collected or already disbursed.

  • Town’s 12/14 Fund Swells, Foundation Poised To Staff Distribution Panel

    While there was no direct discussion on the subject during a March 12 Board of Finance meeting, Town Finance Director Robert Tait circulated documentation showing a municipal special revenue fund established in the wake of the 12/14 tragedy increased by about $80,000 in the past five weeks.

  • Familiar Faces Head New Foundation Distributing $9 Million

    Individuals with long and strong ties to the community are among the overseers of the newly launched foundation that will be charged with distributing more than $9 million amassed from donations being made to a United Way/Newtown Savings Bank fund since 12/14.
