  • Newtown Savings Bank Planning To Relocate Main Street Branch

    After making an announcement to employees, trustees, and corporators at a recent gathering, Newtown Savings Bank President and CEO John Trentacosta told The Newtown Bee this week the bank will close and relocate its Main Street retail branch to a new building at 30-32 Church Hill Road.

    Mr Trentacosta said he expects the new building will be completed and ready for outfitting as a bank branch by late fall, with expected occupancy by spring 2016.

    The focus of the 2013 Annual Labor Day Parade will be one on providing the town with “an avenue of celebration,” said Labor Day Parade Committee President Beth Caldwell, Monday, August 5, as preparations for the September 2 parade were being finalized.

  • Newtown Savings Bank On Board For Destination Newtown

    The Newtown Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 10th Annual Destination Newtown Wednesday, May 1, at Rock Ridge Country Club, 214 Sugar Street. A VIP reception will be held from 2:30 to 4 pm and the business showcase will continue from 4 to 7 pm.

    For the fifth consecutive year, Newtown Savings Bank has committed its support as title sponsor of the event.

  • Newtown Savings Bank Co-Sponsoring Free Business Workshops

    BETHEL — SCORE and Newtown Savings Bank are co-sponsoring a series of workshops in partnership with Bethel Public Library and Bethel Chamber of Commerce. The series of four free workshops is open to business owners and others interested in running a business.

    The series will begin Tuesday, February 26, with “Do You Really Need a Business Plan? Yes, You Do and Here’s Why.”
