  • NICE Students And Teacher Delegates Reflect On Sister School Visits

    Over the district’s April vacation, three delegations through the Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) visited three different countries: Spain, France, and China.

    Members of the delegations recently reflected on those trips and on hosting delegates who visited Newtown during three separate times between February and the start of April.

  • Delegation From France Welcomed At NHS

    Newtown High School and members of the Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) welcomed 23 students and two teachers visiting with a delegation from Lycée Alain, Newtown’s sister school in France, on Wednesday, March 25.

    The delegation arrived in the country just a few hours before entering the high school’s cafetorium, where host families through NICE, NICE members, and NHS teachers were waiting to greet the students and teachers.

  • Delegation From Spain Welcomed At NHS

    After arriving in Newtown on Sunday, March 15, a delegation of 21 students and two teachers were welcomed at Newtown High School on the morning of Monday, March 16, before starting a day of visiting the school.

    The group, from the I.E.S. Las Encinas School, is visiting through the Newtown International Center for Education (NICE).

  • Visiting Chinese Delegates Arrive At Newtown High School

    Delegation members visiting Newtown from China with the Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) arrived at Newtown High School during the evening on Monday, February 23.

    The delegation is visiting until Wednesday, March 4, and includes one administrator, one teacher, and 21 students from two schools, Dongchang Middle School and Liaocheng Middle School, in Liaocheng, China.

  • BOE Hears NICE Report And Songs From Hawley Third Graders

    During a report from Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) Executive Council members, the Board of Education learned of a new strategic plan for the program at its meeting on December 16.

    NICE Executive Council members Tim DeJulio, Liz Ward-Toller, and Jen Davidson explained goals and objectives for the program along with presenting the strategic plan.

  • NICE Delegation Members Reflect On Foreign Visits

    Study tour chaperones for the recent Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) delegation visits to China, France, and Spain resoundingly said this week the trips all were wonderful experiences.

    Some of the students who traveled to the three countries also chimed in to share their favorite parts of the experiences.

  • NICE Students And Educators To Travel This Month

    As the dates for multiple trips through the Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) program approach, both Newtown High School students and NICE program instructors are preparing.

    Students and teachers will be traveling to China, Spain, and France during the school’s break in April. The group going to China will be traveling April 10 to April 21, the group traveling to Spain, April 8 to 19, and the group going to France will be traveling April 8 to 16.

  • Looking Back On A NICE Delegation Visit From Chinese Sister School

    Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) members reflected on a visit by a delegation from Liaocheng, China, from January 24 to February 2, with The Bee this week.

    “It was incredible,” said Lisa Berger, president of the NICE Parent Community Organization (NICE PCO), on February 2, the day after delegates left to return to China.

  • NHS Welcomes Visiting Chinese Delegation

    A visiting delegation from China was greeted at a morning pep rally at Newtown High School on Monday, January 27.

    The delegation’s visit is overseen by the Newtown International Center for Education (NICE).

    The delegation, which includes students and educators from Liaocheng, China, lined up across the floor of the high school’s gymnasium for the assembly.

    The Newtown International Center for Education (NICE) team is actively planning delegation visits for winter and spring of 2014.
