Occupation: I am an upcycle artist. Since I was a kid, my mom would say, “Don’t put anything down, or Kim will turn it into something!” Most recently, I’ve been working on a series of 26 crosses in response to 12/14. They are made from wood pallet pieces, scrap wood, drift wood, wine staves, and any other recovered finds I have I my collection. Each one has an inspirational word, selected by my colleagues at Broadview Middle School, where I am a paraeducator, and then written on another piece of recycled wood and attached.

Occupation: I am an entrepreneur. I started a filtered water bottle distributorship, called Drink Water 2 Give Water. It’s fairly new. It’s a reusable filtered water bottle, and it’s an economical and eco-friendly option. We try to get people to give up buying bottled water. I also do fundraising for a nonprofit called Digdeep Water.
Family: My wife Gina and I have been married for 15 years this October. Our son Ben just turned 8, and our daughter Celia is 4 years old.

Occupation: I’m the owner of Academy Design and Construction, and Kitchens By Academy, both in Newtown. I started Academy in 1989. It’s a high-end residential design and construction firm. Our Kitchens By Academy provides for a cross section of the market, based on the customer’s price point and aesthetics. I have an architectural degree and my designs have been featured in the Art Institute of Chicago, and I’ve won international design competitions.

Occupation: I’ve been an antiques dealer for over 40 years, and I’ve owned four shops, including one in Newtown, in the 1980s. It was in the building on the corner of Pecks Lane, where the pasta shop is now. The building there then was Mrs Doss’s Antiques, and a hot dog stand before that. The fire department burned it down as an exercise, and then we built there. I still sell antiques, privately.

Occupation: I am the adult program director at the C.H. Booth Library, as of May 1. That entails finding interesting people who have something to contribute to our community to come in and present. It can be anyone from performers to authors to special speakers. On Sundays, I work at my brother’s Good Luck Food Truck at the Elephant’s Trunk flea market in New Milford. I’m an artist, too, and before we moved to Newtown I worked for magazines in New York City doing picture research.

We’ve been at this location since December, but I’ve been a PA for 18 years, in women’s health for the first ten years and emergency medicine. This is my happy place!
