The Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association (NEOA) has scheduled a presentation on Thursday, January 8, at 7 pm, at Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street, for parents of middle school and high school age students in Newtown.
The event will be held in the school’s auditorium.
Newtown Public Schools, the Newtown Police Department, and the Newtown Prevention Council have partnered with the NEOA to bring parents the workshop on teen substance abuse.

The lineup of Newtown’s administrative team changed in 2014.
At the start of the year, the Board of Education was conducting a search for a new superintendent of schools. On January 10, five members of the school board were ready to head to Southington to conduct a site visit with that district’s then-superintendent, Joseph V. Erardi, Jr.
The visit was part of the interview process, as BOE Vice Chair Laura Roche told The Bee.

For Newtown’s public schools 2014 was an eventful year. Students raised money for causes and charities, completed projects, and demonstrated a range of abilities throughout the year.
The start of 2014 had Newtown Middle School students testing their knowledge in the school’s final round of the National Geographic Geography Bee, on January 9. After a number of rounds, student Michael Arena was named as the school’s winner.
