  • One-Day SCAN Holiday Art Show Planned

    For the unusual, but special, holiday gift, The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown is offering a SCAN Small Works Art Show & Sale.

    The special event will be offered one day only, on Saturday, December 13, from 10 am to 4 pm in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown. Artist members of SCAN will feature small, original artwork, all under 11 by 14 inches or smaller, for purchase at very reasonable prices. Additional portfolio selections will be available.

  • Pop-Up Art Show, Gentlemen’s Night Out Planned

    Local curator Rosemary Rau would like readers to know of two special events taking place within the next week.

    A pop-up show featuring works by five members of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will be presented at Barnwood Grill, 5 Queen Street, December 3-6.

    The show will offer works by Suzanne Molineaux, Adele Moros, Dominick Tomanelli, Dorothy Wilson, and Lisa Willvonseder- Greto.

  • SCAN Program With Bruckman, December 3

    The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will welcome the internationally acclaimed artist Frank Bruckmann, who will demonstrate his process of painting a landscape in oil on Wednesday, December 3.

    Mr Bruckmann’s program will begin at 1:30 pm. It will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. The session is open to the public and admission is free.

  • Spector To Present Program For SCAN

    The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have an internationally famous artist demonstrating figure painting in oil for its next program.

    Joel Spector will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street, on Wednesday, November 12. The program will begin at 7:30 pm in the building’s lower level. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

  • Cloudscape In Acrylic, Wednesday

    The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host Charles Ray demonstrating painting of a cloudscape in acrylic on Wednesday, October 22, at 1:30 pm. The program will be held in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

    The demonstration is open to the public, free of charge.

  • Wilk On Watercolors, Next Wednesday

    “Island Irises” is a 19 by 20-inch watercolor by Laura Wilk, who will be the guest artist for SCAN next week.

  • Noreika At Next SCAN Meeting, September 10

    The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will welcome Robert Noreika, a prominent watercolorist and illustrator, for a demonstration of landscape painting in watercolor during its meeting on Wednesday, September 10.

    The meeting and subsequent program will begin at 7:30 pm. It will be at Newtown Meeting House  (lower level), 31 Main Street. The demonstration is open to the public and admission is free.

  • Award-Winning Artist Alain Picard At Next SCAN Program

    The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Alain Picard, an acclaimed portrait artist, demonstrating painting a portrait of a model at its meeting-program on Wednesday, August 27, at 1:30 pm. The meeting will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

    The demonstration is open to the public, free of charge.

  • Liverant To Offer ‘Exploration Of Color In Pastel,' August 13 At Meeting House

    The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host Gigi Liverant, a well known Connecticut artist, demonstrating “Exploration of Color in Pastel” on Wednesday August 13, at 7:30 pm. The program will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The demonstration is open to the public, free of charge.

  • Artist To Share Skills Of Painting Seascapes During Next SCAN Program

    Connecticut artist Jacqueline Jones will demonstrate “Oil Painting of a Seascape” at the  Wednesday July 23, meeting of SCAN, the Society of Creative Arts in Newtown, at 1:30 pm, in the lower level of the Newtown Meeting House, 33 Main Street.

    The demonstration is open to the public and admission is free.
