The Choir of Men & Women and the Trinity Choristers of Trinity Church will bring festive music to the beautiful, candlelit acoustics of Trinity Episcopal Church for the community at its Festival Of Lessons And Carols For Advent. The annual celebration will be shared Sunday, December 7, at 2 pm, as part of the Annual Newtown Holiday Festival.

On Wednesday, February 19, there will be a service of Taizé worship at 7:15 pm in Trinity Episcopal Church.
This tradition of musical worship began years ago in the ecumenical French monastic community called Taizé. Held at Trinity Episcopal Church in the darkened, richly resonant space, the local Taizé services provide an uncomplicated framework for quiet meditation, reflection, readings and music.

On Sunday, November 24, at 7 pm, at Trinity Church, there will be an interfaith program that is intended to bring residents together as a united community. The gathering, according to organizers, will be a way for attendees to feel thankful for the many ways all have shown compassion this past year and dedicated to serving one another in the months and years ahead.

Please note, the song that was sung at the end of the lighthouse dedication on June 14 was called “We Choose Love.” It was written by Darryl Gregory and his students, as a gift to Newtown from Schaghticoke Middle School in New Milford. The caption that accompanies the photo to the right has been updated to reflect that information.

A 20-foot tall custom built lighthouse, complete with working lights, was set up in front of Trinity Episcopal Church late afternoon Wednesday, July 12. The lighthouse will serve as a beacon for the first public event of Ben’s Lighthouse, a lighthouse festival that will take place at the church on Saturday, June 15.

During a pilgrimage to South Dakota last summer, Jack Benedict, a member of Newtown Troop 270, developed the idea that became his Eagle Scout project. Jack and his friends from Trinity Church visited what he called “a beautiful outdoor labyrinth” in the Black Hills, and Jack felt it would be a great gift to his church and town to create something similar here.

Organizers of Newtown’s upcoming Lighthouse Festival are excited about the progress being made on a 20-foot tall, custom, interactive lighthouse being built for the event. The working lighthouse, designed by Duane Langenwalter of Thin Air, LLC, will incorporate symbolic references to the lives lost on 12/14 while shining a joyful light on the youth of this town.
