MILFORD — Runners and walkers are invited to flood the streets of Milford on Saturday, March 21, to honor the memory of James Mattioli on the weekend of his birthday.
James was one of the 20 children who died in the tragedy at Sandy Hook School in 2012. The race, which drew over 1,200 participants in its inaugural event last year, will feature a certified 5K course, a kids event, and a variety of local food trucks with food for purchase at the finish line.

MILFORD — The Sandy Ground Project was established by the New Jersey Fireman’s Benevolent Association last year. Its mission is to build 26 playgrounds along the coast of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut in towns hit by Hurricane Sandy. Each playground honors and provides a lasting memory of the 26 children and teachers who lost their lives on December 14, 2012.
Milford will be the location of one of those playgrounds. It will be built in memory of James Mattioli, a 6-year old who was among the children killed on 12/14.
