The Middle Gate Elementary School hosted its annual PTA-sponsored laser light show for the students to celebrate the end of the school year on Tuesday, June 16.
The show was put on by Prismatic Magic, a countrywide laser light show that travels to schools, according to the group’s website.
Eric “Myster-E” Shandroff with Prismatic Magic was introduced to the assembled students for the celebration in the school’s gymnasium.

Middle Gate Elementary School students were treated to a visit by crew and animals from Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, Wednesday, June 10, as a thank you to the school’s student body.
As part of the school’s Middle Gate Loves To Read Week, which ran April 6 to 10, the students participated in a coin drive that raised $747.06, all of which went to fund the Beardsley Zoo’s rehabilitating and sheltering of an injured bald eagle named Kodiak.

As Middle Gate Elementary School lead teacher Peggy Kennedy thanked parents at the school's end of the year assembly, which was held on Tuesday, June 16, to celebrate the school's graduating fourth grade students, she said the school community is "so, so especially proud of their accomplishments."

Middle Gate Elementary School held its annual STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Night event for third and fourth graders on Thursday, May 21.
The event, organized by math/science specialist Jill Bracksieck and the school’s math intervention teacher Kristen Delgado, boasted many activities that allowed the students to learn about and explore science and math.

As part of this year’s Middle Gate Madness event, murals that were created by the school’s community were unveiled in the school’s cafeteria on Friday, May 15.
The effort to create murals began in February, when Susan Rosano, an artist with Arts For Learning Connecticut who recently moved to Vermont, first worked to prepare students and parents to put paintbrush to paper to fill in the first of the nine murals.

Students inside Middle Gate Elementary School’s gymnasium on Tuesday, April 28, cheered, clapped, and sometimes participated with the Zuzu African Acrobats performance, which was sponsored by the school’s PTA.
Middle Gate Principal Chris Geissler said at the start of the assembly that he was thrilled the school’s PTA was sponsoring the event, because, as he said, he first learned about the Zuzu African Acrobats through an e-mail. He said his first reaction was, “That’s pretty cool.”

In different rooms on Tuesday, March 31, Middle Gate Elementary School students and their parents experienced art, music, the library/media center, and Project Adventure lessons during the school’s Special Night.
Middle Gate Principal Chris Geissler welcomed everyone to the evening event in the school’s gymnasium, saying he was excited “to have you get a glimpse of what your kids do during the day in the arts.”

Middle Gate Elementary School students navigated one course in the school’s gymnasium using a wheelchair on Wednesday, February 25, while in another corner students wearing blindfolds used canes to navigate their way around cones.
This year’s Differences Day, which is an annual event at the school, offered a range of activities and lessons to highlight differences people may have from one another. Fourth grade students at Middle Gate participated in the event.

A group of Middle Gate Elementary School students huddled inside a classroom on Tuesday, February 24, to participate in one session of the “EverWonder on the Road” after-school program.
Pam Fagan, Middle Gate Elementary School’s retired math/science specialist, has been returning to work with Middle Gate students and EverWonder Children’s Museum Program Coordinator Janis Hubina for the program.
