Middle Gate Elementary School students navigated one course in the school’s gymnasium using a wheelchair on Wednesday, February 25, while in another corner students wearing blindfolds used canes to navigate their way around cones.
This year’s Differences Day, which is an annual event at the school, offered a range of activities and lessons to highlight differences people may have from one another. Fourth grade students at Middle Gate participated in the event.

A group of Middle Gate Elementary School students huddled inside a classroom on Tuesday, February 24, to participate in one session of the “EverWonder on the Road” after-school program.
Pam Fagan, Middle Gate Elementary School’s retired math/science specialist, has been returning to work with Middle Gate students and EverWonder Children’s Museum Program Coordinator Janis Hubina for the program.

Susan Rosano, an artist with Arts for Learning Connecticut who recently moved to Vermont, worked to prepare paints and one of what will be nine murals for Middle Gate Elementary School’s cafeteria during the evening of Tuesday, February 10.

Middle Gate Elementary School music teacher Tina Jones was ready in the school’s gymnasium on Tuesday, December 23, when students walked in for an assembly.
“This is our Middle Gate musical winter sing-a-long!” Ms Jones announced, wearing a festive hat and outfit.
After introducing students to the assembly, Ms Jones seated herself at a piano and led students and faculty through singing a Winter Fantasy and Jingle Bells combination.

A very traditional field day event, scooter races had pairs of students rolling across a section of playground, racing against three other teams.

A number of stations were set up in Middle Gate Elementary School’s gymnasium on Monday, May 19, for the school’s Differences Day.
The day has been held at the school before to highlight differences people may have from one another. The event has been an annual one at the school, typically hosted by the school’s RRD Club (Responsibility, Respect, Diversity).
This year fourth grade students at the school made their way through the stations set up for Differences Day in two sessions.
