  • Garden Club To Host ‘Demystifying Flower Arrangements’ Program

    The Tuesday, March 24 meeting of The Garden Club of Newtown will feature Judy Grabarz, owner of Newtown Florist, with an informative and inspiring presentation entitled “Demystifying Flower Arrangements.”

    The program will take place in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. It will begin at 1 pm.

    This program was rescheduled from January 27, which was cancelled due to inclement weather.

  • ‘Beatrix Potter’s Gardening Life’ Author To Keynote Garden Club Silver Anniversary Luncheon

    The Garden Club of Newtown will formally mark its 60th anniversary with a luncheon on Wednesday, April 1, at Rock Ridge Country Club.

    The public is invited to join the club’s membership for the event, which will begin at 11 am with a social hour and silent auction. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by the speaker’s program at 1.

  • The Top of the Mountain

    Springing is one thing cats do well, so I am more than ready to spring into Daylight Saving Time this coming weekend. DST starts at 2 am on Sunday, March 8, so be sure to set your clock ahead one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night. Now if I can only see over the snowbanks by the time spring arrives, in just two weeks. I sense snowdrops and crocus crying out from beneath the mounds of snow.

    UPDATE (Tuesday, January 27, 2015): C.H. Booth Library is closed today due to Winter Storm Juno, so this program has been cancelled.

  • Garden Club Greens Sale A Crowd Pleaser

    Garden Club member Vicky Taloni tweaks a bow on one of the dozens of hand decorated wreaths, just prior to the start of the Annual Greens Sale, Saturday, December 6, at The Meeting House on Main Street. The event draws a big crowd every year, and serves as a fundraiser for the local club.

  • Garden Club Of Newtown Preparing For Annual Greens Sale

    Members of The Garden Club of Newtown held one of their first workshops for the annual Greens Sale on November 18. Many ladies created ornaments that will be used to decorate fresh evergreen wreaths that will be sold on December 6.

     

  • ‘All Season Color In The Garden’

    Colleen Plimpton will present her program, “All Season Color in the Garden,” for The Garden Club of Newtown on Tuesday, October 28, at 1 pm, in the lower meeting room of Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

    The public is invited to join garden club members for the program.

  • Battling Plants At Home: Garden Club Display Helps Residents ID Invasives

    Do you know what’s growing in your backyard?

    Thanks to the Garden Club of Newtown members’ efforts, residents can take a look at some of the problem plants that are thriving in Newtown. Information and photos of these plants are now on display at C.H. Booth Library.

  • Timely Topic For Garden Club: Pruning Flowering Shrubs

    Spring will arrive on March 20, and The Garden Club of Newtown will focus on the new season with “Pruning Flowering Shrubs,” a timely presentation by Nancy Dubrule-Clemente, on Tuesday, March 25. The program will begin at 1 pm at C.H Booth Library.
