  • Monster Trucks Take Over Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue

    A constant line for rides, smiling faces, and laughing screams could be seen and heard at the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue main station on Saturday, May 4, when Pat Summa from the Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam Monster Truck Series stopped by for four hours.

    Mr Summa offered rides in a special truck made for such occasions, and Steve Zion of Toyota Wallingford offered up a specially designed Toyota Tundra, which travels the NASCAR circuit also for such occasions.

  • Monster Trucks In Sandy Hook, Saturday

    On Saturday, May 4, from 10 am until 2 pm, Pat Summa from the Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam Monster Truck Series will be at the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue main station.

    Mr Summa will be giving rides in a special truck made for just such an occasion. The monster truck Thrasher will also be on display in its Sandy Hook Memorial Colors.

    There is no charge. Visitors are asked to park behind the firehouse, at 18-20 Riverside Road.

    Pete Barresi, left, and Chuck Kilson, both of whom are Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company firefighters, this week recalled an accident that occurred on Monday on a fire call during Storm Sandy, in which a massive tree fell onto the cab of a fire truck occupied by Mr Kilson, who narrowly escaped injury in the incident.
