  • Fire Extensively Damages Thunder Ridge Road House

    Firefighters from eight volunteer fire companies responded about 1:07 pm on Thursday to a report of house fire in Sandy Hook which extensively damaged the wood-frame structure amid frigid conditions.

    There were no injuries in the blaze, which initially was reported as a fire in a bathroom and was soon upgraded to a working structure fire at 6 Thunder Ridge Road. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

    Thursday, June 6: 7:52 pm, medical assist, Toddy Hill Road, Botsford responded; 9:18 pm, alarm, 19 Valley Field Road South, Sandy Hook responded. 

  • Sandy Hook Fire Victims Inspire An Outpouring Of Support

    On Friday afternoon Audra and Hans Barth and their three children were sorting through donations of clothes with friends and neighbors outside the shell of what used to be their cozy little home on Berkshire Road.

  • Five Companies Respond To Berkshire Road Fire

    Newtown’s fire companies were on the scene of a fire at 254 Berkshire Road at until nearly 7 pm, Wednesday, where a structure was destroyed.

    Firefighters from all five of the town’s companies, in addition to apparatus and manpower from neighboring towns, were dispatched to the property around 3:20 Wednesday afternoon to the area. The initial call was for a possible structure fire on an property on the eastern side of Berkshire Road but it now appears the fire has destroyed a building on the west side of the state road.
