  • More Hypocrisy From Congress

    To the Editor:

Today, February 27, C-SPAN informed us that the United States Senate blocked a Bill that would have expanded Veterans' Benefits to include dental care.  The proposed Bill would also have provided funding to support remedial health care beyond the limits presently imposed by sequestration.

I feel like vomiting with rage at the hypocrisy present in our Congress.

  • Mark Barden's Comments In Introducing President Obama On April 17, 2013

The following is a text transcript of comments made by Mark Barden of Sandy Hook in introducing President Obama at a press conference following the US Senate's vote on gun control measures:

  • Sandy Hook Parents Watch As Gun Bill Dies In Congress

WASHINGTON – A push by the White House and lobbying by the parents of children massacred at the Sandy Hook Elementary School failed Wednesday to convince the Senate to consider a relatively modest gun-control measure: An expansion of background checks for firearms purchases.

“All in all, this was a pretty shameful day for Washington,” said an emotional President Obama, standing in the Rose Garden with Sandy Hook families.

  • With Senate Vote, Gun-Control Advocates Make Progress

WASHINTON –  In an emotional vote, the Senate on Thursday handily beat back an attempt by some Republicans to block consideration of the most comprehensive gun-control legislation Congress has considered in 20 years.
