  • Beautiful Baby Contest Seeking Entries

Newtown’s annual Beautiful Baby Photo Contest, coordinated since 2010 by Sandy Hook resident Lois Barber, is kicking off and looking for photos of children, newborn to age 4, to be posted on its voting booth.

The contest is a friendly competition/fundraiser that this year will help an American soldier returning home with life-altering injuries receive a free custom handicapped accessible house through the Homes For Our Troops national nonprofit. It is a baby photo contest, not a live pageant. All money raised goes to Homes for Our Troops.

  • Luke’s Toy Factory To Be Featured On CPTV

Reaching for an apple-red fire truck Wednesday, March 18, Joanne Whiting lifted the children’s toy from a shelf. The store manager for The Toy Tree on Church Hill Road, she and store owner Tracy Schmid waited for parents to arrive and meet the makers of the toy: Sandy Hook father and son Jim and Luke Barber.

  • Top of The Mountain

Photo bombs continue to be a very popular trend, and this week I spotted one of my own doing just that. When one of our Bee photographers was out collecting Bee’s Buck photos last week, she didn’t realize that while she was trying to sneakily take a photo for this week’s challenge photo, the photographer herself was also being watched.

  • Beautiful Baby Photo Contest Voting Begins Friday

Luke McCarthy, 2, was the first child entered in 2014’s Beautiful Baby Photo Contest. His entry photo has been placed in #1 spot on the voting booth, which will go on public display and begin receiving votes this weekend.

  • Beautiful Baby Contest Entries Arriving; Police Union Receives First Donation

Connor Monaghan recently gave Newtown Police Captain Joe Rios, left, and Lieutenant George Sinko a check for the police union fund, representing the first batch of entry fee checks for the 2013 Newtown Beautiful Baby Photo Contest. Connor was the 2010 Beautiful Baby Contest winner.
