  • Waldorf School Open House Slated

    Parents and children are invited to an Open House event at The Housatonic Valley Waldorf School, 40 Dodgingtown Road (Route 302), on Saturday, February 1, at 10 am.

    Waldorf education is a holistic approach to education that incorporates art, movement, and music into virtually every academic subject. In the early years, play is emphasized. Play, along with teacher guided activities, allows the child's cognitive abilities to unfold in a way that strengthens their desire for learning, according to the school.

  • Fraser Woods Open House November 21

    Fraser Woods Montessori School will host its November open house for parents of prospective students from 10 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, November 21, at the school, 173 South Main Street. 

    Faculty, administrative staff, and the director of admissions will be available to conduct guided tours and provide information about the school’s four- or five-day toddler and preschool programs as well as full-day kindergarten through eighth grade programs.

  • Open House And Revolutionary Camp Reenactment Held At Historical Society Headquarters

    Newtown Historical Society hosted an open house at its headquarters, The Matthew Curtiss House, on Sunday, September 15.

    For the open house, members of The Fifth Connecticut Regiment conducted a reenactment of a revolutionary encampment.

  • Open House And Revolutionary Camp Reenactment, Sunday At Matthew Curtiss House

    Newtown Historical Society will host an open house at its headquarters, The Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main Street, on Sunday September 15, from 12 to 4 pm. Admission is free; however, donations are welcomed and will benefit the historical society.

    During the open house members of The Fifth Connecticut Regiment will be conducting a reenactment of a revolutionary encampment. Possible attendees are soldiers, a spy, a surgeon, and a whitesmith. There will be demonstrations in hearth cooking and clothing.
