    Police report a two-vehicle accident in which the driver who caused the crash on Botsford Hill Road fled the scene at about 3:42 pm on August 12.

  • Police Reports, July 30-August 10, 2015

    DUI Incident

    Police report that they received numerous complaints regarding a motorist driving erratically on Interstate 84, who later got off I-84 at Exit 11 and was then seen driving erratically on local roads at about 10 pm on August 8.

    Police said they found the motorist in question and stopped him on Mile Hill Road to investigate.

    DUI Case

    At about 1:23 am on July 24, police were called to the town-owned Eichler’s Cove Marina at 11 Old Bridge Road on Lake Zoar because a man there had become involved in an argument with a security guard at the marina, police said.

    Police said they found motorist Daniel Ruggiero, 25, of Shelton parked in his vehicle near the guard’s quarters, after which they investigated and charged Ruggiero with driving under the influence and with possession of narcotics.

    Riverside DUI

    At about 2:35 pm on July 15, motorist Richard Olivas, 38, of South Kent was driving a Saab 9-3 auto in the Riverside section of Sandy Hook, when the Saab drove into a stone wall at the intersection of Riverside Road and Laurel Trail, according to police.

    There were no injuries. After investigating, police charged Olivas with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right on a curve. Police released Olivas on $500 bail for a July 29 court arraignment.

  • Police Reports, June 21-29, 2015

    Juvenile DUI

    Police report that at about 11:29 pm on June 25, a youth under the age of 18 was driving an unspecified vehicle on Paugussett Road, near its intersection with Skytop Drive, when that vehicle went off the side of the road.

    The youth was not injured, police said. After investigating, police arrested the youth on charges of driving under the influence by a person under age 21 and failure to drive to the right.

    DUI Incident

    Police report that at about 6 pm on June 22, they received a report that a motorist who was driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV in a commercial parking lot on Queen Street, had backed into a parked unoccupied 2013 Lexus GS-350 sedan, damaging the Lexus, and then drove away from the scene.

    Police said they investigated the complaint and then located the Jeep’s driver, Linda Sorensen, 67, of 40 Greenleaf Farms Road, at her home.

    Police report a two-vehicle accident near 66 Church Hill Road, at the driveway entrance to the Blue Colony Diner, about 12:22 pm on June 11.

    DUI Incident

    Police report that at about 3:15 am on June 6, they discovered damage to a utility pole located near 97 South Main Street, indicating to them that a driver had struck the pole and then left the scene of the accident.

  • Police Reports, May 28 - June 1, 2015

    Multiple Charges

    Police report they arrested a Sandy Hook man on May 28 on a warrant, charging him with four offenses in connection with a January 26 incident.

    Newtown police said they received a call from Milford police informing them that they had in custody Frank Edwards, 53, of 27 Yogananda Street, for whom Newtown police held an arrest warrant. Milford police had stopped Edwards there for an alleged motor vehicle violation.

    DUI Incident

    Police report that at about 9:30 pm on May 22, they stopped motorist Suzanne Cinicolo, 61, of 111 Hanover Road on South Main Street, near its intersection with Sugar Street, to investigate.

    Police said that after investigating, they charged Cinicolo with driving under the influence and with failure to illuminate headlamps.

    After processing, police released Cinicolo on $100 bail for a June 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
