    So what was the scariest part of the past week? Halloween or Election Day?

    Hard to believe we are just now getting a photo of this dashing couple of Pumpkin Race Decorating judges.  Judges Justin Scott and Amber Edwards were dressed the part at the Lions Club annual Pumpkin Races, Saturday, October 17. One look at them, and participants knew their efforts would be taken seriously. One more look, and I’m sure their stellar careers took yet another leap up the ladder.

  • Football And Swim Teams Set To Begin Season

    The three-time South-West Conference champion Newtown High School football team is looking forward to continuing its run of success in conference play as the 2015 campaign kicks off. Newtown’s season opens with a Friday, September 11, visit to Pomperaug of Southbury, beginning at 6 pm.

    Somewhere out there, a critter is rubbing his rump and thinking, “Ouch! All this for a minnow?” Bee employee Emery Klein was out fishing last week, when his line started spinning out. This gave Emery a bit of a thrill, as he was expecting to reel in the big one. But the “one that got away” turned out to not be a trout or bass or any other fish one might find in Connecticut waters, but a beaver that had been tempted by the minnow at the end of the line.
