  • The Library Friends Say ‘Yes’

    To the Editor:

Yes! Our generous neighbors  swung by the library on Sunday to donate books, CDs, DVDs and other items for the various book sales sponsored by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library.  Thank you.  You—and the weather—provided crucial support!

  • Friends Of C.H. Booth Bid Farewell To Sterns

More than three dozen members of the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library, library staff, and fellow book sale volunteers crowded into the Old Board Room of the C.H. Booth Library Monday morning, May 19, to wish well to Julie and Pete Stern. The Sterns, who have volunteered with the Friends for many years sorting books, serving on the board, and, in Mr Stern’s case, representing the Friends on the board of trustees of the C.H. Booth Library, are moving to Pennsylvania as of June 2.

  • Another Banner Year For Library Book Sale

It may have been the extended heat wave that drove people to seek the air-conditioned comfort of Reed Intermediate School, but Friends of the C.H. Booth Library Annual Book Sale organizer Denise Kaiser said that she believed the 2013 sale drew a larger crowd than last year during its run, Saturday, July 13 through Wednesday, July 17.

  • Denise Kaiser Awarded Library Friends’ Individual Achievement Award

Denise Kaiser, Friends of the C.H. Booth Library volunteer,  might be “flabbergasted” to find that she has been awarded the Friends of Connecticut Library (FOCL) Individual Achievement Award for 2013, but her nominators Jim Maher, the local Friends president, and C.H. Booth Library Director Janet Woycik, are not at all surprised.

Mr Maher and Ms Woycik collaborated on the nomination form submitted last month to the state Friends program, and were notified the week of April 22 that Ms Kaiser had been selected for the honor.
