  • Clothing Drive For Social Services, Saturday

    Newtown Country Club will host a clothing drive on Saturday, May 16, from 1 to 6 pm, to kick off its 100 Year Centennial Celebration.

    Donations received on Saturday will then be given to Newtown Social Services, for distribution to its clients.

    Area residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to help local Social Services clients in need by doing a little spring cleaning and donating a bag of gently used clothing.

  • Volunteers, Donations Sought For Annual Postal Food Drive, Saturday

    The 23rd Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive will be held on Saturday, May 9. The drive is a major supplier of food to the Newtown Salvation Army Food Pantry that is located in the office of Newtown Social Services.

    Organizers say there are several ways the public, ages 12 and up, can help that day.

    First, leave a bag of nonperishable food items in a sturdy bag by your mailbox as early as possible Saturday morning and remind your neighbors to do the same.

    Newtown Junior Women’s Club (NJWC) and Education Connection have launched the annual Tag-A-Gift Program, one part of the annual Newtown Fund Holiday Basket Program.

  • Letter Carriers’ Food Drive, To Benefit Local Food Bank, Returning May 10

    On Saturday, May 10, letter carriers in more than 1,200 branches nationwide will participate in the 22nd annual Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. Newtown Social Services, which will benefit from the collection, is counting on residents to make this year’s collection a success.


  • Politicians Encourage Donations For Social Services Food Drive

    With winter weather settling in, State Sen John McKinney (R-28), State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky (R-106), DebraLee Hovey (R-112), and Dan Carter (R-2), along with Newtown’s Social Services Department, are holding a food drive in the month of January to benefit Newtown families in need.

  • Don’t Forget The Postal Food Drive

    To the Editor:

    The Annual Postal Food Drive will be held on Saturday, May 11th.  This drive is the major supplier of food to the Newtown Salvation Army Food Pantry that is located in the office of Newtown Social Services.  There are several ways that you and your children (12 and older) can help that day.
