  • 2016 Relay For Life Kickoff At NYA November 19

    A very enthusiastic core committee of volunteers and a new event partner are getting off to an early start promoting the excitement of Newtown’s annual Relay For Life, a noncompetitive gathering of supporters, caregivers, survivors, and those battling cancer walking overnight to raise funds and awareness about the disease and its prevention.

  • Relay For Life Activities Abound Ahead Of May 31 Main Event

    Brandishing a guitar and bright pink shades, Relay For Life team member Jeff DePinto and GloGlo Girls teammates Matt Hess and Robby Schreiber worked the corner of Main Street and Glover Avenue waving signs for a benefit tag sale Saturday morning May 10.

    While up the block, emerging sunshine seemed to push vehicles toward a benefit car wash in the rear lot at Newtown Savings Bank where a cluster of volunteers swarmed around with hoses, buckets, and sponges tending to their customers.

  • Recording Artist Coming To Play And ‘Stay’ At This Year’s Relay For Life

    An aspiring recording artist whose first single is available on iTunes is committing his talents to help lift the spirits of attendees at this year’s Newtown Relay For Life. Gregori Lukas, also an accomplished dancer and actor, has committed to donating all April and May proceeds from the sale of his single, “Stay,” on the iTunes digital music service to benefit this year’s tenth Newtown Relay.

  • Relay For Life Welcomes Honorary Chair Mary Ann Jacob, Caregiver Jim Zarifis

    The American Cancer Society has selected Mary Ann Jacob to serve as honorary chair and Jim Zarifis as honorary caregiver for this year’s Relay For Life of Newtown. The tenth Newtown event will begin during the afternoon of Saturday, May 31, and continue during the overnight, into Sunday, June 1, at Newtown High School.

  • Survivors, Caregivers Invited To Free Relay Ice Cream Social

    While Newtown’s 10th Anniversary Relay for Life has been postponed to 2014, organizers felt strongly about honoring all local cancer survivors and caregivers this year. So Relay organizers and volunteers invite all local survivors and caregivers to a Hope Reception and Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 2.
