The Sandy Hook-based LOF Adaptive Skiers will host its annual Adaptive Water Sports Training Day for volunteers on Saturday, May 30, from 8:30 am to 3 pm, at 90 Housatonic Drive on Lake Zoar. Individuals 16 years of age or older are welcome to join the event.

Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF) Giving Day, held March 5, raised more than $1 million for nearly 400 nonprofit organizations in a 24-hour period.
Donations last Thursday totaled $960,991, while sponsorships from a prize pool added another $105,100, for a grand total of 1,066,091. Fifteen Newtown organizations raised a total of $39,151.
The second annual online day of giving was more successful than 2014’s event, which raised a total of $745,729.64.

Leaps Of Faith clinic volunteer Joey Corrod shared a tube ride with participant Dave Dally during Freedom Splash, a new offering presented by Leaps of Faith Adaptive Skiers on July 31. The two laughed as their tube bounced across the boat’s wake.

Soaring With the Eagles, a free camp for blind or visually impaired children, is being offered this year through the Leaps of Faith (LOF) Adaptive Skiers. LOF coordinators and volunteers will be hosting the innovative four-day adaptive water sports day camp for children ages 6 to 17 from June 24-27 in Sandy Hook.
Soaring with the Eagles is the only camp of its kind in Connecticut.

More than 20 disabled skiers participated in Leaps of Faith (LOF) Adaptive Skiers’ Snow Ski Clinic at Mount Southington in Plantsville on February 25 for a full day of snow ski and snowboarding instruction.

“One more time?” asked Leaps of Faith Disabled Waterski Club President Joel Zeisler.
Calling back from the water where he clung to a ski rope, Avi Golden said, “Two more times. Three more times.” Moments earlier he had managed to lift himself out of a crouch and water ski briefly before the rope slipped his grasp. Excited to have been up on the surf ski after repeatedly losing his balance, Mr Golden was ready to try again. He gave a smile and a thumbs up to Mr Zeisler, who positioned the boat for another run.

SOUTHBURY — The Leaps of Faith Disabled Skiers will take to the land for an inaugural Lake-to-Lake Charity Bicycle Ride and Poker Run on Sunday, May 26, rain or shine.
“We have been thinking of different ways to raise funds,” said Leaps of Faith President Joel Zeisler “It’s the first time, so we will do our best. This will be a fun event.”
