To the Editor:
I would like to thank everyone that attended our 3rd annual wine tasting on June 14th at the Sandy Hook Firehouse. We had a great turnout and it was a very successful event. We want to thank the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co. for allowing us to use their incredible space once again this year.

I had on my running paws this past Saturday, but the vast crowd at the Hartford Marathon intimidated me. So I stayed on the sidelines. My ears perked up during the blessing of the runners before the start of the 26.2-mile race, though, when I thought I heard a familiar voice. That made me scramble up the nearest tree to look over the mob, to the steps of the State Capital, where I saw Newtown Congregational Church minister Reverend Matt Crebbin offering words of thanks and inspiration.

On behalf of the Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity, I would like to thank everyone who helped with and attended our second annual wine tasting fundraiser. The proceeds from this successful fundraiser will benefit the FAITH food pantry, SHOP's annual scholarship for a Sandy Hook business student, and will be used to bring all the great events that go on in Sandy Hook Center to the community free of charge.

June is National Adopt A Cat month, and I like #1 on the American Humane Society website: If you’re thinking about adopting a cat, consider taking home two.
If adopting a cat is out of the question, how about going to look at some big cats? Saturday, June 15, is Newtown Day at the Beardsley Zoo, 1875 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport. Show your Newtown identification, and entry to the zoo is just $5, 10 am to 4 pm. Seems like it could be at grrr-eat outing.
