  • NCAC Arts Grants Competition Announced

    Newtown Cultural Arts Commission announces its annual grant competition for 2015.

    The commission will award up to $1,000 to a Newtown artist and up to $1,000 to a Newtown arts organization. The grant application deadline is August 7.

  • HealingNewtown Project To Phase Out, But NCAC Arts Programs To Continue

    The era of HealingNewtown programs is coming to an end.

    Launched in January 2013 by Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC), with the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut and the Connecticut Office of the Arts, the HealingNewtown project has offered dozens of programs, exhibitions, and workshops since its debut. The project’s first headquarters, in a then-vacant storefront at 5 Queen Street, was also host to numerous pieces of art, some created by local residents but the majority of which were sent to Newtown in response to 12/14.

  • Newtown Cultural Arts Commission Receives $30,000 NEA Grant

    First Selectman Pat Llodra has announced that Newtown Cultural Arts Commission has received a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support HealingNewtown. Mrs Llodra made one of the first announcements about the grant on Friday, June 14, while a guest on CT Public Radio’s “The Colin McEnroe Show.”
