The Annual Friends of the C.H. Booth Library Book Sale ended Wednesday, July 16, and while the final tally is not yet in, Friends spokesperson Denise Kaiser said that she is optimistic that the numbers generated this year will be comparable to last year’s sale, which generated $108,000. Bills and reimbursement by the book recycling center discoverbooks.com, which takes away the very last of the books for resale or pulp, will determine the final numbers.

Photo bombs continue to be a very popular trend, and this week I spotted one of my own doing just that. When one of our Bee photographers was out collecting Bee’s Buck photos last week, she didn’t realize that while she was trying to sneakily take a photo for this week’s challenge photo, the photographer herself was also being watched.

Among the more than 120,000 books and other items that will be offered at the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library Annual Book Sale next month are hundreds of special, collectible and rare books.
Each year, donated books that catch the eyes of the volunteer sorters are culled and passed on to book expert John Renjilian, a Friends’ volunteer. Mr Renjilian determines the value of the books, and every year, he said, there are quality rare and collectible volumes donated.

To the Editor:
The wonderful outpouring of support for the 38th annual book sale to benefit the C.H. Booth Library has insured once again that the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library can fulfill its mission of generously funding the acquisitions, programs, and enhancements in library service we residents of Newtown so enjoy and expect. The large cadre of devoted and indefatigable book sale volunteers deserve our deep thanks for sustaining this perennially successful town event.
