Halloween on Main Street

  • Halloween On Main Street

Visitors of all ages visited Newtown's Main Street on Friday, October 31, for the biggest costume party of the year, an unofficial gathering that draws residents from across town as well as the region. A number of homeowners went all out with decorations and displays, which were enjoyed for a few hours even with the threat of rain.

  • The Great Pumpkin Challenge Collection

A couple hours into the weekend collection hours for this year’s Great Pumpkin Challenge, pumpkins were already arriving at 14 Main Street, where the entire collection will be displayed on Halloween.

This is the third year Newtown High School sophomore Mackenzie Page has challenged residents to carve a pumpkin, drop it off for display at her home at 14 Main Street, and offer a suggested donation of $5.

  • Get Carving: Great Pumpkin Challenge Collection Is This Weekend

Collection times have been set for this Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27, for the Great Pumpkin Challenge.

This is the third year Newtown High School sophomore Mackenzie Page has challenged residents to carve a pumpkin, drop it off for display at her home at 14 Main Street, and offer a suggested donation of $5. Drop-off hours are between 10 am and 5 pm both days.

  • Great Pumpkin Challenge To Return To Main Street

The first year Mackenzie Page issued The Great Pumpkin Challenge, she received 149 jack o’lanterns for the fundraiser and seasonal offering. Donations received when residents dropped off their carved or painted pumpkins totaled over $3,700 that year, which were donated between a family friend fighting cancer and the American Cancer Society.
