  • School Supporters Create Newtown Education Foundation

    Residents Kristen Bonacci, Aaron Carlson, and Casey Ragan are behind an effort to launch a Newtown Education Foundation to support the local learning environment.

    The Newtown Education Foundation’s mission is to “enrich the learning experience for our students by promoting innovation and creativity through collaboration with the community,” according to a press release.

    As the co-founders, Ms Bonacci, Mr Carlson, and Ms Regan announced the foundation on Wednesday, August 26.

  • $1 Million Raised For Fairfield County Nonprofits During 2015 Giving Day; $39,151 For Newtown Groups

    Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF) Giving Day, held March 5, raised more than $1 million for nearly 400 nonprofit organizations in a 24-hour period.

    Donations last Thursday totaled $960,991, while sponsorships from a prize pool added another $105,100, for a grand total of 1,066,091. Fifteen Newtown organizations raised a total of $39,151.

    The second annual online day of giving was more successful than 2014’s event, which raised a total of $745,729.64.

  • Annual Charlotte Bacon Act Of Kindness Awards Celebrated At Edmond Town Hall

    Newtown Kindness honored children for embodying its mission “think kindly, act boldly” during this year’s Annual Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Awards ceremony, held at Edmond Town Hall during the evening of Saturday, February 21.

    Despite the snowy weather, many attended the event, which was also provided through a live-stream program for viewers to watch.

  • Newtown Kindness Kicks Off ‘Nice Bucket Challenge’

    Newtown Kindness is hosting its first-ever Nice Bucket Challenge, a pay-it-forward initiative to spread kindness this February, which the organization has named Kindness Month. Inspired by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Nice Bucket Challenge participants commit to an act of kindness and challenge friends to pass it on.

  • Sharing Lemonade Stands Geared To ‘Giftivism’ For The Sake of Kindness

    Members of Newtown Kindness, a nonprofit group that formed to honor the memory of one of the children who died 12/14, is spreading the spirit of “giftivism.”

    A group of Newtown Kindness members gathered on Saturday, June 28, at Sand Hill Plaza in Botsford to distribute free lemonade-making kits to children who will make lemonade and then give it away.
