To the Editor:
There was a very interesting article in the New York Times this past Sunday (9/27/15): “Stop Googling. Let’s Talk” by Sherry Turkle, an MIT professor. She has been studying the psychology of online connectivity for 30 years; more recently with a focus on what has happened to face-to-face conversation with apps and texting dominating our social culture.

Early Tuesday afternoon, Newtown High School was placed on “lock-in” status due to an unspecified threat which was made on Internet-based social media directly against the high school, School Superintendent Joseph Erardi, Jr, said in a statement.
At about 1:10 pm, the school was placed in a “lock-in closed teaching and learning environment,” he said.
During such situations, visitors are not allowed on school grounds and all people in the school remain inside the building.

MONROE — The Power Network, sponsored by the Monroe and Newtown Chambers of Commerce, will host a workshop featuring Lynn Moore of Moore Marketing on Thursday, July 24, from 8 to 9:15 am, at the Collaborative Work Center, located on the second floor of 500 Monroe Turnpike.
“The Anatomy and Psychology of Facebook for Business Owners” will address key tips and techniques on how business owners can use Facebook to manage privacy and other settings, when to post and where to share and how to boost posts to grow your community.
